The name Project 6.8 is a blend of two defining concepts.

We chose “Project” because we desire to create a movement, not an institution. We realize there are necessary organizational components to any non-profit however our design is to be administratively efficient, lean, and “owned” by many unpaid partners. More importantly, we chose the name “Project” because we believe that the each of the 10,000 Arizona children living in foster care can achieve permanency. This movement is a “Project” because it can be accomplished.

We chose “6.8” because of a verse that resonates strongly with us. In Micah 6:8 God calls people, and specifically Christians, to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God”. The Bible repeatedly defines doing “justice” as caring for the orphans around us. There are 10,000 orphans in Arizona and they deserve this justice.
